USA sinks Nepal in exciting CWC2 ODI
The US defeated Nepal in an exciting opening match of the ICC CWC League 2 ODI tri-series.
The bowlers and batters combined for a complete team effort to seal the victory.
Bowling first, the attack was led by Nosh and his outstanding spell of 4/52. Wickets were also taken by Saurabh, Harmeet, Shadley and Jesse. The US kept Nepal to 286 runs, a reachable target on the Grand Prairie pitch.
The batting was led by Shayan Jahangir and his brilliant century — 104 off 97.
Captain and WK Monank Patel had a critical half century knock of 62 off 76 to keep the chase going.
But it was the all-rounders who turned in the most clutch batting performances, with Harmeet’s half century (57 off 44) coming at the highest strike rate of the order, and Shadley (undefeated 29* off 37) and Jessy (11* off 6) putting on critical performances at the end to take the US over the line.
The match fittingly ended on Shadley’s massive 6 to take the US to 291 and a 3-wicket victory.
